Year 11 Football Success

On Thursday, 12th February, our Year 11 football team competed in the last 16 schools, at the English Schools’ Cup, against West Derby High School from Liverpool. To reach the last 16 schools in England is a huge achievement. The team played exceptionally well, against a very physical and competitive team, and after conceding two early goals the team managed to score three in a row to make it 3-2. West Derby scored to make it 3-3 and with the last kick of the game they scored again from a very well-placed free kick. Our Year 11 team were an absolute credit to themselves, their families and the school and played with real passion, control and resilience. Although disappointed, they have been very positive about the defeat and are now looking forward to the Preston Cup semi-final soon. Well done to all involved.
