Achieving Together

Reading Leaders

Each year we run a paired reading programme, linking a group of keen readers from Year 10 with several of our Year 7 pupils.  Our Year 10s receive specialist training in how to support their reading partners and term 1 saw them complete their training and begin their reading sessions. It’s wonderful to see the dedication of our Year 10s, along with the confidence and effort shown by the Year 7s involved.  It is a lovely way of bringing our lower and upper schools together and celebrating reading.

I would like to say a big thank you to all of the Year 7s who are (and will be taking part)

and especially to our wonderful band of Year 10 reader leaders:

Aliyah Ahmed 10R, Priya Anantharachagan 10S, Jessica Brown 10H,

Jack Christopher 10R, Sara Gaffar 10R, Riley Gray 10R,

Charlotte Lowe 10C, Amanda Osakwe 10C, James Owens 10C,

Tabitha Roberts 10R, Madeline Rooney 10R, Ella Sanderson 10R,

Alice Walmsley 10S, Megan Wilcock 10R and Alexander Wren 10N

Finally, our 2026 Excelsior Awards reading group met in the library for the first time this week to pick up the first of the Graphic Novel/Manga reads that they will be rating for this year’s National Excelsior Awards.  More on that to come! In the meantime, I would like to congratulate Year 7 on being the year that has borrowed the most, to date, from the library this academic year with a fantastic 1603 books! Keep up the great reading.
