Athletics Report
The data from this season's athletics competition is now all in the system and I am delighted to report there are a number of athletes who deserve a special mention.
- The oldest record broken this year was Daniel Moore (9N) in the Long Jump which had stood for 22 Years, nearly half of Broughton's life span!
- Also, Oliver Ward (7C) who broke the 200m record in his 200m heat, only to break his own record in the Final on the same day.
- Finally, the boys’ Year 9 and 10 relay team who again broke the record in their heat and then ran faster again in the Final. Very impressive.
Further to this, I have to mention a few other athletes who have either come close to records this year or who have produced some amazing results on the track outside of school.
- Ellis Wilkinson Y10 100m 11.84 seconds (Record 11.61)
- Mia Murphy Y10 100m 13.36 seconds (Record (13.2)
- Harry Richmond Y9 300m 41.01 seconds (Record 40.40)
- Billy Ward Y10 hurdles 12.55 seconds (Record 12.28) … Billy only came to do this event as a last-minute replacement!
Congratulations - and you never know, your record may still exist in another 50 Years of the school’s history!
