U14 Girls’ Football
23/04/2024
On Tuesday 16th April, our U14 Girls’ Football team played against Fulwood in the semi-final of the Preston Schools’ Cup.

With a lot of pressure riding on this game our girls were strong from the start and played some exceptional football, passing the ball extremely well and making scoring opportunities from very early on. Their goalkeeper was extremely strong and denied us on a number of occasions. We eventually managed to break through with some beautiful passing, with the ball being played out accurately from Kara Lee at the back and through to Grace Lochhead who found the back of the net! We were linking our passing really well from our defence and midfield and finally to our forwards where Ellie O'Neill found a gap in the goal and placed it neatly to give us a 2-0 lead.

Fulwood came back strong after a half time team talk and quickly managed to get around our defence and score, 2-1. Our team knew they needed to step it up a gear and so we upped the intensity of our game, with Imogen Goodwin being an excellent playmaker in centre midfield, and we created some more opportunities which again were denied by the goalkeeper making some incredible saves! Our next goal came from a brilliant ball from Grace to Ellie who then found the back of the net again! 3-1. Fulwood came back again with some skilful attacking play to end the game a very respectable 3-2.

Congratulations to the whole team and we look forward to the finals’ night!
