Boys’ Football - Preston Cup
22/03/2024

The boys’ football teams have experienced success across all of their first-round fixtures in the Preston cup, with some fantastic performances across the board.

The Year 7’s edged past Longridge 3-1, in a tight game where two late goals ensured their progress.

Year 8 played out a high scoring game against Moor Park, coming out eventual winners with a 9-5 victory, a fantastic result having been tied 5-5 at half time.
Year 9 took on Archbishop Temple and after a tense game managed to grab a late winner thanks to a well worked attack that was finished off in stylish fashion with a glancing header into the far corner, resulting in a 2-1 victory.
Year 10 played Eden boys in their tie, again another tight game that could have ultimately gone either way. After struggling to get going the boys managed to settle down and clinch a 2-1 victory.
Finally, Year 11 took on Corpus in what will be their last opportunity to represent school for football. After a fantastic game, the score was at a deadlock with no team managing to grab the desired goal. As per the competition rules, it was the nerve wrecking penalty shootout that followed. Thankfully, after some well taken penalties, Broughton managed to edge through 3-2.

Well done to all involved and keep your eyes peeled for an update on the next rounds fixtures.
