The Preston Schools Year 9 and 10 Rounders Tournament was held at Longridge High School and St Cecilia's on Wednesday 15th June. This was the first rounders event since summer 2019, only the second ever rounders tournament for Year 10 and the first ever competitive rounders event for Year 9.
The Year 9 team performed exceptionally well, scoring more rounders that any other school in the Year 9 tournament! There were outstanding performances by all pupils. Throughout the tournament the girls demonstrated excellent team spirit, especially in some very close games. In each game the team got better and better, building their tactics and becoming a much more effective fielding side. The team finished 4th overall in Preston!
The Year 10 team dominated in their tournament, bowling the opposition out in each game and barely conceding any rounders. Their performance was outstanding with phenomenal catches made by Amelia Rose Battersby and Cerys Allen to get numerous players out. Emilia Vickers was on fire with her batting, scoring countless rounders. In their final rounders tournament of school, they were a credit to the school and to themselves.
Well done to both teams who competed with true Broughton spirit!
