Exams are a means of summative assessment to test knowledge, skills and levels of understanding.
Exams allow teachers, parents, pupils and a range of end users to have a reference point in terms of grades, levels and scores to assess the ability of a pupil. Exams are also a means by which pupil progress can be determined from one year/Key Stage to the next.

It is important that pupils ‘get involved’ in as many extra-curricular activities as possible, because this contributes to exam success.
